The Morning
Star Baptist Church of Christ Web team would like to introduce and welcome Rev.
Rasheed Q. Ray as the new Pastoral Advisor for our team. He comes to us highly
recommended. We are excited and very much looking forward to working with him.
We want him to be confident in the knowledge that he has our full support and
faith.
Rev. R. Q. Ray was born August 28th 1986, to the blessed parents, James Ray Jr. and Priscilla A. Bolden. He is a native Baltimorean and a proud product of the Baltimore City Public School System, where he is an Alumnus of the nation's 3rd oldest high school, Baltimore City College High School. After City, he continued his education at Baltimore City Community College in pursuit of a degree in Psychology. After being employed with the International Associations of Amusement Parks and Attractions in Alexandria, VA, as the Assistant Accountant and Support Services Coordinator for a few years, he returned home to work for the Baltimore City Public Schools as a member of the Student Intervention team.
In June of 2009 he was sworn in by the Honorable Mayor Sheila Dixon, as the 12th district Youth Commissioner. In the short time of serving on the Youth Commission, Rev. Ray was appointed Chair of the Education Committee and voted to serve as the Sgt.-At-Arms as well as Vice Chair of the Youth Commission. As of May of 2011, Rev. Ray was appointed Chair of the Baltimore City Youth Commission. Also, he was appointed to serve on the executive board of Baltimore's leading teen parent mentoring program, The Dream Girls Mentoring Program.
Rev. Ray accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at the Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ, under the Pastoral guidance of Rev. Dr. Samuel Ray. During the untimely death of his grandfather, Rev. Ray had received and accepted his call to the ministry. He has served as an Associate Minister at "The Star". As of October of 2009, Rev. Ray has been appointed as the 3rd and youngest Pastor in the 20+ year's history of the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church and Outreach Ministries, now named New Restoration Baptist Church.
Rev. Ray lives daily by knowing that the "Lord is his Shepherd, and he does not want." Because of that belief, he has had several opportunities to break the bread of life at many venues throughout the East Coast. He's served small, large, young, old, and many different persons of different cultural backgrounds. He states "Failure is not an option!!!! IT'S ONLY WHEN YOU DON'T TRY AND YOU DON'T BELIEVE THAT YOU WILL FAIL!!!!"
Thank you Rev. Rasheed and again welcome.
