Preston DavisPreston serves God and the Morning Star Baptist Church of God as webmaster, musician and Bible Study teacher.

Sunday, June 19, 2011 was Men's Day at the Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ. As is the custom every year one of the men of our church is selected as 'Man of the Year'. Our Men's Ministry president, Washington Green, announced that this year's recipient is Preston Davis. Mr. Green expounded on Preston Davis' attributes as follows. Preston is the web master of our church. He was instrumental in the development of our web site over three years ago incurring most of the initial expense on his own. The day to day involvement of this site consumes a great deal of his free time. Preston has been approached on several occasions for technical support for the hardware and software equipment by church members as well as outside vendors.

Preston's love for computers and technology led him to a career as a Computer Programmer. Preston is the Founder and President/CEO of Sleeper Technologies, one of Maryland's only Black-Owned Internet Technology and Development firms which he started while in college. He regularly consults with Fortune 500 and Fortune 1000 Companies on how to leverage internet technologies. His long list of clients includes the State of Maryland, Semmes, Bowen & Semmes Law Firm, Naden/Lean Accounting Firm, Baltimore Healthy Start and many more.

Preston's first love, however, is music. He was a music major at Frederick Douglass High School. He attended Peabody where he refined his skills in classical and jazz guitar. He is also a fluent piano player, bass player, synthesizer programmer, mixing engineer, songwriter and orchestrator. Preston frequently does work as a studio musician and is currently writing and producing for several local professional and aspiring Gospel Artists under his production company "Low-Key Music Productions".

Preston first started playing at the "Star" because of his late uncle, Deacon Donald Brown. Deacon Brown constantly urged him to play at the "Star" and after speaking to Rev. Jonathan Ray, arranged an audition. Thus Preston became another member of our famous 'Korner'. Preston often hosts rehearsals in his home studio where his Mom, Anna Craig, often serves food and or snacks.

Preston is an online student at the Koinonia Institute for Biblical Studies. Preston's focus is on Greek and Hebrew languages and he regularly reads Scripture in it's original forms. He has earned several Certificates of Achievement and degrees from the institute as a result of his study of the Word. Preston was awarded the "Bronze Medallion" for Biblical Studies in 2010. Thus on occasion, he is a co-instructor with Rev. Bernard Barber of the Men's Ministry Bible Study at the "Star" which is held every Saturday at noon.

Preston has one son, Aaron Keith Davis who juggles college, work and assists him with programming and studio engineering tasks.

Congratulations Preston on being the 2011 man of the year. Keep up the good work!
