Faye Caldwell
was born on November 18, 1914 to the late Susan and Zach Moore in Shelby, North
Carolina. She was the youngest of seven children.
On May 6, 1934, Faye married the late Samuel Caldwell Sr. and took up housekeeping in Marion, North Carolina. From this blessed union, seven children were born, Annie Lucille, Mary Frances, Alice Faye, Samuel Jr., Betty Ann, Vivian Lee and Sharon Rozina. Faye and Samuel were happily married for fifty-five years.
Faye and her children moved to Baltimore in the early 1940's to join her husband who preceded them there to find work in the city. Soon after her arrival in Baltimore, Faye became a devoted and faithful member of Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ. She loved her church and supported it whole heartedly. Faye loved reading the Bible, especially the 23rd Psalm. Even during her debilitating illnesses, she would take delight in reciting Bible verses to her family.
Faye Caldwell was a strong, caring woman who had a complete faith and love for her God, her church and her family.
Many will remember Faye in her earlier years riding a bicycle, to her children's amazement and delight, up and down the street. Even more, she will be remembered for her delicious chocolate cakes she baked. Faye was an avid watcher of a variety of television shows, especially the "Wheel of Fortune" and those featuring televangelists.
Faye could often be found sitting on her front porch taking in the sights and displaying her gorgeous plants and flowers. She loved her flower gardens, wearing beautiful clothes and hats. But most of all, she will be long remembered for being a devote wife, loving mother, grandmother and kind neighbor.
During Faye's later years, she suffered a number of progressively serious ailments and injuries. She fought the good fight and quietly departed this life on February 26, 2009. We know that she is in a better place and God has blessed her with many years of service to Him.
We take this time to pause and remember a beautiful flower that now blooms in God's beautiful garden.
