Marian Bordley is a Sunday School Teacher and has
worked with the Sunday school for many years. She loves working with the
programs at the Star and loves working with the "little ones". One of her
favorite pastimes is watching the Orioles play on T.V., "win or lose!"
Marian Bordley is a native of Baltimore MD. Her birth date is June 6th. Marian graduated from Douglass High School. Her next graduation was from Coppin State College. Her education did not stop there. Mrs. Bordley continued her studies at Loyola College and New York University where she did graduate studies. She currently has enough credits equivalent to a Master's Degree. Marian worked as a teacher in the Baltimore City Public school system for 31 years before her retirement.
Marian Bordley joined Morning Star Baptist Church over sixty years ago under the pastorate of Reverend Garnett. Her involvement with teaching at the Star commenced when one day Mrs. Hurley asked her if she could hold a class for her. "I answered I think so and I have been holding a class ever since." Marian loves the Sunday school and teaching the 'little ones'. Her teaching career did not end with her retirement, as we can see. Another delight of hers is instructing the First Love Bible Class here at the Star. Marian was featured in an article about the First Love Bible Class in a prior edition.
Mrs. Bordley relaxes by reading although she enjoys watching the Orioles on television whether they win or lose. She's an avid jeopardy player. I'm certain she excels there from her schooling background. Marian and her husband love to travel. They have traveled extensively through the USA, Alaska, Europe Mexico, Canada, Caribbean and Morocco. A favorite hymn of hers is Sweet Hour of Prayer. She states that the words always lift her spirit. Her favorite scripture is Matthew 7:7. She has carried that scripture with her throughout her career.
Marian advises us to: put God first; serve Him with all your heart; find your purpose in life and apply it to the Glory of God and always strive to be kind to each other and help whenever you can. To those who know Marian, doesn't this describe her to a 'T'? I will now advise 'you', Marian, to continue in your sweet, gentle, God fearing manner.
