late Nicolas L. Carter and James Walter. She grew up with four siblings. They
include the late Mary E. Ames, the late James M. Carter, Deacon Delores Brown
and Samuel Carter. Her children are Linda and Darnell. Rose is very happily
married to the love of her life, John D. Bruce. The Bruce's share grandchildren
and adopted children. They are, Tia Carter Jenkins, Ortaii Pope, Alex D. Carter,
Patricia E. Smith and Angela Alexander.
Rose Bruce was baptized at the Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ by Reverend Jacob Garnet over sixty years ago. She then joined the Young People's choir under the direction of Sister Naomi Robinson and Brother Cornell Muldrow. She has been singing at the Star ever since.
Rose is called on by Reverend Ray to sing at any time. She smiles, walks from her seat to the mike and sings her heart out! Rose has been presented in concert on several occasions. Rose shares her melodious voice at special church events and programs often. She says, "I love to sing", and we love to hear her.
Rose has been a member of The Samuel Ray Revival Choir, and currently sings with the Volunteer Choir. She belongs to the Missionary Society, the Family Life Commission, the Women's Ministry and the Welcome Committee. Rose Bruce is a dedicated member of this church and I applaud her gift that she shares with us and her committed service.
