Bertha Fields has been a member of Morning Star since 1950. She joined under the leadership of the late Reverend Garnett. She recalls coming to the church on Sundays when there were no seats to be found in the house. Mrs. Fields talks about having to sit downstairs in the church and listen to the service because the main sanctuary was over flowed! She also remembers coming to what we call now, the New Membership class where Temple Allen Sr., was her teacher.

Mrs. Fields states that she was one of the members that helped in the preschool department when it first began. She decided to become a member of the Gospel choir then, under the direction of Mrs. Iva A. Branch. She stated that they use to sit in the balcony to sing because the choir loft was full with the other choirs.

Now, under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Ray, she is a member of the Samuel Ray Revival Choir and the Sanctuary Choir, along with the Women's Day choir. Mrs. Fields can be found serving on the Pastor's Aide, the Cluster of Clubs and the Missionary Society.

She is the matriarch of her siblings whom reside in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, of which she visits every summer. Mrs. Fields has also traveled to the Holy Lands and cruised to Australia. She looks forward to taking more trips in the future.

Mrs. Fields, at the age of 88, states that her favorite scripture is Psalm 23, and her favorite selection is Twelve Gates to the City. Her hobbies include sewing, shopping, reading, and traveling.

We say thank you, Mrs. Bertha Fields for all that you do! A faithful servant!
