Why did Jesus choose the wedding at Cana for His first miracle?
There is no way to know for certain why Jesus chose a wedding in Cana to perform His first miracle (John 2:1-11). We can hypothesize, however, and we have Jewish tradition and some Old Testament prophecies to help us piece together some possibilities.
Jewish historians speculate that the event in Cana may have been the apostle John's wedding, and this is one reason Jesus and His disciples were invited. John's mother, Salome, was likely a sister of Jesus' mother, Mary. This would make Jesus and John first cousins. Jesus was there with extended family and close friends. Full Story
In March of 1994, Rev Samuel Ray appointed Mrs. Shelton as the Board of Christian Education Chairperson. She served as the chair for 15 years. Mrs. Shelton has served as the Coordinator for the Children's Church Ministry for the past 18 years, a ministry she truly loves. After each 4th Sunday service, she provides the children goodie bags, a treat she has provided since the first Sunday service of Children's church for the past 17 years.
While a member of the "Star" Ida demonstrated her faithful and active membership. She was president of the Golden Age Club, member of the Cluster of Clubs and a Missionary. Ida met and married the late Arthur Raison who was also a longtime member of the "Star".
