Deacon Clinton M. Martin - After moving to Baltimore, Maryland,
Mr. Martin united with the Morning Star Baptist Church in 1942, under the
pastorate of Reverend George Jacob Garnett. He served as an usher and was
ordained a Deacon in 1969. Deacon Martin loved the Lord and his church and
joyfully served until his health failed. He was a faithful steward and
demonstrated his love of God and man inside and outside of the church. Deacon
Martin was a patient bather at the Baptist Aged Home; joined Deacons of other
churches in teaching weekly Bible classes to the infirmed; brought worship
services, Bible study and communion to aged patients and ministered to those in
need and served his community in any way he could.
Who is This Child? [A Christmas Poem]
- Who is this babe in manger born? On straw He laid his head, Low beasts were
his companions, He had no pillow for his bed, No crying did this newborn make,
Whose mother was so lowly, Within His presence all who stood, Sensed that He is
holy.
Jesus and the Parables: A Message for Our Time (Part
II)
- We are not God, hence we cannot look at any person (other than ourselves) and
determine who is true or false. Who is "qualified" and who is not. How do we
even know that we are truthfully following Jesus? We have but one recourse: to
examine our actions in light of Biblical Doctrine. If our actions and those of
our Brothers are not consistent with Biblical Teaching then we have an urgent
reason to change our actions. Study God's Word for yourself. Study the Holy
Scriptures and rely on the Scriptures as your primary source of truth and the
final authority on what is right.
Healthy Holidays
- The holiday season is in full swing. This means a lot of holiday gatherings
with large amounts of food. During the holiday season we tend to eat and drink a
lot more calories. As you enjoy the holidays, remember to balance the calories
you consume with the calories you burn. Family, fun…and FOOD! It's what the
holidays are all about, right? But that doesn't mean you have to pack on the
holiday pounds.
Let's Strike Up Some Fun
- Do you need a night of relaxation? How about a night of family fun with your
spouse, children, maybe even a neighbor or two? Well your nearest bowling center
is the place for you! Whether it is ten pins or duck pins, it is sure to be a
blast, an evening of fun and laughter and memories that will surely last. With
bowling, you don't have to worry about a rain delay, and if it is hot outside,
you don't have to wait for a passing breeze to come along to cool you off.

What will I be celebrating this Christmas?
- As a young Christian today at the build up to Christmas, I am faced with the
same choice. What will I use this time of holiday and festivity to celebrate? As
I thought about it, I realized that in choosing to celebrate the birth of Christ
it would be worth pondering over why it is a cause for celebration. I listed all
the reasons that came to me to celebrate Jesus' arrival into this earth (more
than) 2000 years ago. Here are my thoughts.
Why Jesus is Better Than Santa Claus
- Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl, what's
your name?"... JESUS knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our
name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even
knows how many hairs are on our head.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly... JESUS has a heart full of love.
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO... JESUS offers health, help and hope.
The Fight before Christmas
- 'Twas the fight before Christmas when all through the house Not a good deed
was stirring, and Dad was a louse! Their mother was angry and loaded with care,
'Cause the gift list was longer than ever this year! The children were nagging
for gifts worth a ton, And Dad was convinced, "Christmas just isn't fun!" With
Mom's loud complaining, and Dad mad at all, They loaded the car for the trip to
the mall!
7 Ways to Earn Respect from Our Children
- A father should use that authority wisely. Firstly by protecting his sons, and
especially daughters from outside influences. The whole purpose of parental
discipline is to help children grow and learn to be honest, loving adults, is it
not? One of the greatest responsibilities we have as parents is to teach our
children the value of wisdom and spiritual truth. Where do you think wisdom
comes from? Parents have wisdom and that wisdom can get passed on to children
but in the end all wisdom and truth come from God.
